Supporting People
The Supporting People programme can tell you about housing services. If you visit the website, you can find out about living in a new home and getting support. Or you can find out about staying where you are, and getting support. The website is www.spkweb.org.uk. You will need to put in things like your postcode, your age and where you live at the moment.
Finding housing services in your area
There are lots of places you can go to find out about housing services in West Sussex. Visit www.westsussex.gov.uk , and type in "housing support" in the search bar. Then click on the first link from the list. There are lots of links to people who can help.
If you live in Mid Sussex, visit www.midsussex.gov.uk and look under "housing, health and caring" and then choose "housing benefits". Here you can find leaflets to download. These leaflets tell you about housing options for people who have a learning disability. You can also out how to apply for housing services.
The people at ICIS can also help you. ICIS is a special information service for people who live in West Sussex. You can call ICIS on 0800 859929 or 01903 859929, or visit www.icis-infor4life.org.uk.
Online Basics
Online basics is a new free course to help thousands of offline adults take their first steps with computers and the internet.
Online basics, which is available free of charge at www.onlinebasics.co.uk , offers five basic modules covering the basics people need to know to get going online - from keyboard and mouse skills thorugh to email, internet searching and how to stay safe on the internet. The site also provides access to guidance for people helping someone to use the course, such as tutors in learning centres of family and friends supporting someone at home. In this way, Online basics is open to everyone.
Housing Options Training
Housing Options runs a national programme of training and events. The focus is to ensure that people with learning disabilities achieve greater choice and control of their housing and support.
If you become a Housing Options Member training and events are great value with reductions.
The Autumn/Winter 2010/11 training and events programme include:

- Tenancies and mental capacity
