Direct payments, self directed support and individual budgets
The website www.in-control.org.uk tells you about self directed support. This can help you to take control and make more choices about the support you get. Vision 2020 has been launched this sets out our hopes and aspirations for the next 10 years.
Do you use a personal budget or direct payments to buy services? Shop4Support helps you find out how much things cost. It tells you how much you could pay for things like cleaning or buying a house. Vist www.shop4support.com to find out more.
The National Centre for Independent Living provides information on individual budgets and who can receive them. They also have a directory of local support services. Their website is www.ncil.org.uk.
The Independent Living Association (ILA) is a charity based in Worthing which helps people all over West Sussex. It helps people who are on self directed support or direct payments. The ILA can help you find support workers, usually called Personal Assistants. It can help with lots of things to do with employing someone, such as opening a bank account and paying wages.
